"10kg" tells the story of Charlotte, a brilliant teenager caught up in an ideology that cuts her off from her family and friends, culminating in an arranged marriage. Inspired by her mother's experiences, AnteprimA's show evokes this story against a backdrop of hope and kindness.
10kg is a show born of an encounter, a true story: Charlotte is the eldest of a happy siblings, a teenager full of promise. Brilliant at school, surrounded by many friends, involved in sport and the arts, she grew up in a stable, loving family environment. Everything changes when, in an attempt to win a boy's heart, she strays into the meanders of what she believes to be her religion. Despite her family's best efforts to maintain the link, she isolates herself in a dogmatic ideology that leads her, barely of age, to leave her family and join a new community in an arranged marriage.
On stage, 10kg of clothes in which black takes precedence over color.
Lau Nova gives us an unvarnished account of her experience as a mother, and invites us to look beyond our models and perceptions, by sharing a part of this story against a backdrop of hope and kindness.
