Description
What is the overall assessment 50 years after this big cat was reintroduced into our forests? To find out, let’s head out into the field to speak with biologists, veterinarians, hunters, and foresters.
In France, the Eurasian lynx is found primarily in mountain forests. It is classified as “endangered” and is a species protected by French and European law. After several decades of absence, the lynx has made a comeback in France, first in the Jura region from neighboring Switzerland, then in the Vosges and the Northern Alps (where only a few individuals have been spotted).
What is the status 50 years after the reintroduction of this big cat into our forests? To find out, let’s head out into the field to meet biologists, veterinarians, hunters, and foresters. Their accounts will help us better understand the still-fragile situation of a feline that is essential to the balance of our ecosystem.
Director Laurent Geslin is an internationally renowned nature photographer. For over ten years, he has been observing and photographing the Eurasian lynx. This documentary complements the feature-length film “Lynx,” his first feature film.
Antoine Rezer was born and lives in Haute-Savoie. Passionate about the bearded vulture, the wolf, and the lynx, he participates in monitoring and research projects for various organizations.
