BICYCLE TOURING, IN THE TRACKS OF CHAMPIONS

Exploring our region by bike is an invitation to discover the splendour of the Alpine countryside along the legendary routes of the Tour de France (Col de la Colombière, Col de Romme, Côte de Châtillon…), the wealth of our built heritage and our gastronomic traditions.

Our region is also a crucial stage in the world-famous Route des Grandes Alpes.

MOUNTAIN BIKING, A DIFFERENT WAY TO DISCOVER THE MOUNTAIN

There are no paths in our villages marked for the practice of mountain biking. However, certain hiking trails are perfectly adapted to this activity: the Cluses green route, the Agy plateau in Saint-Sigismond and the Cenise plateau in Mont-Saxonnex, as well as the climb towards the Vormy mountain pastures in Nancy-sur-Cluses…

DOWNHILL MOUNTAIN BIKING, TO TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY

Seeking thrills or looking to refine your technique? Downhill mountain biking is for you! Spare yourself the climb, and hurtle down these marked trails at top speed!

Take your mountain bike with you on the chairlift from Morsullaz to Mont-Saxonnex, from where you can take one bend after another down the ski slope.

The chairlift is open Wednesdays and Sundays (and 14 July and 15 August) from 13 July to 28 August.

The Les Carroz resort Bike Park is also available all summer for use, offering a variety of tracks for all different levels. For more information, please click HERE.

ANNUAL RACES

It is not uncommon for a stage in the Tour de France or the Dauphiné to cut across our region.

Races open to everyone also take place nearby, please see below.

  • The JPP Cyclosportive in Les Carroz d’Arâches, in early July every year. In support of “Neuf de Coeur” and organised by Jean-Pierre Papin and Les Carroz Tourist Office, this is the association’s most important event of the year. It acts as the principal source of donations for Neuf de Coeur. It is an annual cycling race consisting of 4 stages (140 km – 115 km – 80 km and 65 km) between Cluses and Les Carroz in the legendary Alpine passes of Haute-Savoie.
  • The VTTticime in Les Carroz d’Arâches, in mid-July every year. This mountain bike meet-up has been around for 22 years and is listed as a “Randos d’Or”! A weekend to be shared with family or friends! Courses adapted to every level, entertainment, introductions, demonstrations and performances.
